BREWER
We’re looking for a part-time to full-time Brewer to join our award-winning brewery in San Rafael, CA. We enjoy brewing a wide variety of beer styles and creative experiments while also producing high quality classics. This position will consist primarily of brewing and cellaring but will also involve a little bit of everything. We run a lean but growing brewery so flexibility and hustle are required. We have a 15-bbl brewhouse and have a small but varied spirit and sour barrel program.

Responsibilities:

Perform all functions related to brewing and cellar-work, including (but not limited to), yeast management, malt milling, cleaning/sanitizing kegs, packaging beer, tank transfers, gravity readings, and clean-in-place (CIP)

Communicate professionally and effectively with the Head Brewer and Assistant Brewer

Clean, organize, clean, organize, clean

Conduct sensory evaluation
-
Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times
-
Perform quality assurance, including detailed record keeping
-
Represent the brewery at festivals and promotional events
-
Occasional beer deliveries
-
Maintain taproom beer and ingredient inventory
-
Thoroughly document brew days, cellaring, etc.
-
Maintain taplines
-
Help with canning beer
-
Additional miscellaneous tasks as needed
Minimum Requirements:
-
Homebrewing experience at a minimum
-
Able to work well with a team
-
Able to take direction and follow standard operating procedures
-
Able to lift heavy objects safely, including 165 lb kegs and 55lb sacks of malt repeatedly
-
Able to bend, twist, crouch, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces
-
Able to work safely with chemicals, pumps, hot water and high pressure
-
Flexibility with work tasks, hours, and availability
-
Hard working, self motivated, positive attitude
-
Impeccable sanitary practices
-
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record
-
Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
Preferred qualifications:
-
Professional brewing experience or training
-
General mechanical aptitude and proficiency with repairs
-
Understanding of brewing chemicals and chemical safety
-
Proficient in Google Sheets/Excel
-
Cicerone certification of any level
-
Ability to operate manual pallet jack
Compensation:
-
$23-27 / hr depending on experience

BEERTENDER
we are currently not hiring
We’re looking for engaging and attentive bartenders who love people (and beer, of course) and who are excited to shape the customer experience in our taproom. Our beertenders are the face of Pond Farm Brewing, first to interact with customers, take orders at the bar, pour beers, and chat about our beers.

We’re looking for someone with the following traits:

Responsibilities:

Serve beer properly from our 16-tap tower

Greet customers and answer their questions about our beers and our brewing process in a friendly and non-pretentious manner

Conduct bar operations while behind the bar - from cleaning to pouring beer to stocking glassware
-
Understand and follow bar operations, including keeping an impeccably clean bar service area
-
Change out kegs
-
Adhere to all alcohol service regulations and requirements
-
Share customer feedback with others during team meetings
-
Follow Opening and Closing bar protocols flawlessly
-
Bus tables, wash glasses, and generally maintain cleanliness of the taproom
-
Other duties as needed
Minimum Requirements:
-
Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
-
Possess basic math skills and the ability to handle money
-
Take Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) training within 30 days of beginning work
-
Ability to move 50 lbs or more (to move and replace kegs)
-
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Preferred qualifications:
-
At least 1 year bartending experience
-
Experience working at a restaurant / bar
-
Any beer-related training (Cicerone, Beer Steward, etc.)
-
Beer knowledge of styles and appropriate glass types
